Domaine de Belair
The Domaine
The Summer School takes place at the Domaine de Bel Air estate. It consists of a 19th century manoir with large outbuildings (used for classrooms and meals) surrounded by a small park and woods. See pictures here.
There is a heated covered pool and mountain bikes can be hired in the afternoons.
The estate is located south of Le Mans and about one hour to the north of the Loire Valley in Western France. UNESCO inscribed the central part of the Loire river valley on its prestigious list of World Heritage sites in 2000. It is famous for its numerous Renaissance chateaux, gentle landscape and vineyards producing fine wines. See pictures here.
Accommodation
There is a choice of single rooms (chateau or chalet), double rooms (chateau), twin rooms or dormitory style accommodation. See pictures here.
Single and twin rooms feature a very good standard of comfort and en-suite bathrooms. The two dorms provide a more economical alternative with 4 beds each and shower rooms.
Chateau rooms are in the main building and each have individual decor and period features plus en suite bathroom with bath. Chalet rooms are in a new building a few hundred yards away. They have the same high standard of comfort (with en suite shower room ) but without the period charm, of course.
Partners are welcome.
If needed further rooms are available at the Chateau de Mondan or Chateau De Montaupin a few miles away where some of the tutors are staying. Suitable if you want to bring your family on holiday with you.
